    Hagen Cyle or Stres Zyme

    Hi guys.
What are the differences between Cycle and stress zyme?
There is also a much more affordable item on the market called Active-Bac by Aquasonic...any experience with this product?
    Opinions would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Andrew

Gee Andrew. I don't use either of them.

I used to use Cycle, but found it didn't make much of a difference, so stopped using it, and now fishless cycle all my new tanks with pure ammonia.

I have a theory that the simpler you keep things, the better with discus.
Thirty-five years keeping and breeding discus, and I'm still learning :P

Ok well I will stop using the stuff then
I was asking in general. I use it for new tanks and for decreasing nitrate/nitrite when things go wrong

I have found that Sera make a great product for this purpose (Nitrovec)...

    Cycle IMO isnt very concentrated.

Another good option is a product by Seachem (cant remember its name) I havent seen it yet in Australian stores.

Seachem Stability? Is that what your thinking about??
I know where to get this product from online
The only problem with Nitrvec is that if you overdose the product it can cause problems

    Nitrivec... nooooo

it is one of the safest to use (unless you tip 1L into the tank, then you may have issues)

Stability, yes... (I should have just checked my cabinet, as I brought some back from the states)

I don't use anything in my water except PRIME.

Although I am going to give the STABILITY stuff a shot as I am going to be setting up several new tanks soon.

I agree with LR, the simpler the better.
