sexing discus
One of my local aquariam shops is saying that them have a 95% success rate of determining sex by drawing a line through the the angles of the top and bottom fins. How reliable is this?

lol..... i've seen this once before on the interent... and I wouldn't think it to be 95% correct.
If there was even a method which would be about 75% then everybody would use it.

Basically, it's not reliable. But fun guessing.

If you have a scroll through the "breeding basics" section, I'm sure there are some other articles on sexing fish there too. Or you could have a look at Andrew Soh's book - there's some for sale at the moment in the classified section.
But the short answer is, it's a bit of guesswork, with a bit of practice & experience, but the only sure sign is seeing the breeding tubes out when they're spawning.

i reckon that method would be about 50% accurate at best..... :P
