yes you should age and heat your water for your water changes, your fish will love you for it. i age mine for a minimum of 24 hours (sometimes 48 if the ph keeps bufering back up after i bring it down).

when changing water, is it okay to use warm/hot water to get the right temperature before adding it the tank rather than using a heater?

    is boiling water bad?

boiling water can actually be very good as boiling removes tempery hardness from the water, reducing it ph slightly.
eg sydney tap water ph 7.8
    after boiling 6.9-7.2

thats how i use to change water when i had my fish in a flat.

apistodiscus i am not sure that hot water in australia is heated in the same fashion as in the nth hemisphere, so if reason were for copper toxicity then maybe best to let a local advise on if that is the case down there

when i was there certainly there was no call for gas central heatnig and a boiler running to a hot water tank still seems bizarre to me
