    Are Swordtails Okay?

    Hello all,

I have a 55 Gallon Tank (208L I think) that I was going to stock with 2-3 Discus. I wanted to set this up as a community tank and wanted to know if Swordtails are okay as tankmates? Thanks!

Are they much cooler fish? Not 100% sure but I think they need temp in the 70's. Discus need to be in the mid 80's.

When I first started out I made the mistake of keeping my temp at 84F and my swords did okay with no signs of stress. My concerns are more of disease and water quality more than anything else. Thanks.

    SWORDTAILS

I'm not sure but i wouldn't put it with discus because they all suffer from a disease called columnaris which they all carry and are immune to. Not sure how that'd effect your discus, but to be on the safe side....

    Cheers

I'd say you will be fine.

Just make sure you quaratine them for a few weeks before adding them to the tank. Or make sure they are bought off someone trustworthy.

They may be a little active for your discus, so if you see your discus stressing you better remove the swords.

    Sam.
