cannister filter, a really powerful one, you could could use a t joint on the intake an output of the filter to both tanks, itd have to be quite a powerful cannister filter though.

How about have a good solid airpump, running some sponge filters?

Or a internal filter in each tank.

you can run it with a canister, the intake at the bottom tank and the outlet (spray bar) on the top tank.

    After multiple tiers wooden stand??

I thought of all of thoese idears but I am after a totaly diffrent way of filtering the 2 tanks I was even thinking of getting 2 top filter boxes and get a realy powerful internal pump to pump it from the bottom to the top with one of thoese round spounge air filters on the bottom of it do you tink that might work?

Why don't you create a sump underneath the tanks and connect them both to it.
