another newbie whos mouth dropped when seeing these fish

hey guys im new to this forum and obviously you have heard this 100000000000000000000000000 times but im looking at starting a discus tank. Im really quiet blessed because where i live there is a local aquarium that specialises in these beautiful fish which helps alot but anyways iv been into aquaria for about 2 years and have had experiance with a heap of different fish. i resentally started a tank with blue rams from which i understand quiet like the same conditions as discus.
anyways i have a standard 4ft tank in my room at home which is just sitting there and im really liking the idea of having discus in it.

all im really wanting to do at the moment is take it slowly starting with getting the right gravel, plants and driftwood for the tank im looking at running the tank for about 2 weeks with the gravel, plants and driftwood so all the water parametres right before introducing the fish.

so ill i have at the moment is a bare tank sitting there so any ideas it will be much appreciated .

P.S does anybody know how hard or soft the water is on Gold Coast Australia

    gday

    And welcome to the forum.

Tank designs are endless! but it may be in your interest to start off with a bare bottom tank untill you get used to the regime of keeping Discus.

Water Ph is specific to your area , its best you get yourself a kit and chek your paramaters and then we can go from there.
