Red Spotted Saffron Discus
Mac's Discus has a Discus called a "Red Spotted Saffron"...
http://www.macsdiscus.com/
Has anyone actually seen one of these with their own eyes? Are they as cool as they look? Extremely expensive though, so I'd hate to spend that kind of money and have it not look nearly as cool as that picture.
Does this type go by another name because a search on Google turns up no where else except Mac's.
Also, has anyone else ever purchased fish from Mac's? Just looking for a reference or two.

it looks similar to a Leopard spotted snakeskin.
one thing with Discus, you will find the same fish, with 4-5 different names. They may have very slight differences, but overall they came from similar line breeding principles.
all the same that is a nice looking fish

at the end of the day, if it is a nice looking fish, cash comes second.

Looks more like a variation of a golden leopard to me, they are a new strain that has only became available over the last year or so. http://www.discusfarm.us/dfdiscus.htm Jeff from discusfarm.us sells them as well. $100 to $150 sounds like a good price to me for such a stunning fish. Ask mac to send some pics of the actual fish, if they are intencely spotted like the ones advertised on his website then buyer beware as they will be most likely hormoned. I'd expect a golden looking fish with maybe a slight faded pattern.

That particular discus variety is actually called a Kitti Yellow Red Spotted.
Here is the URL that matches the pic on Macs Discus Website:
