    question about water softness

Well I have aged my water for a couple of days now and was wondering how to get my water softer... they pH and temp are all fine but when I did the hardness test it was still very hard. I am very new to discus I just wanted to get everything right before I go out and buy some new fish.
I currently have a piece of drift wood and 2 plants in the tank.

It could be your substrate, what type of substrate are you using?

Can you post all your water readings, pH, GH and KH. Peatmoss can be used to soften your water, and lower your pH reading, but tell us all you readings first, so we can advise properly.
Thirty-five years keeping and breeding discus, and I'm still learning :P

Merrilyn has passed, but will not be forgotten - Goodbye dear friend
