re: horsefaces
Gday Kev,
Just wondering
Blue horseface eartheater (Satanoperca leucosticta), is that the same as those "green" horsefaces being sold? Google seems to be the one and same fish. I'm not certain now.
I do find however that horsefaces (Satanoperca leucosticta), though are gentle, are not fit to be in a discus tank for a number of reasons. One main reason why is
They are happy with a sandy substrate to dig through for tasty tidbits. However most discus tanks are planted and soon those plants will be uprooted quite to the dismay of many fishkeepers who have spent a fair amount of time placing everything into place.
Also when the "green" horsefaces do breed, they can claim a territory in the tank. Of course, should the greens not breed, then you can have a nice tank with horsefaces and discus with a sandy substrate.
Cheers,
Vien.
