matt, i like to use the actual cones, i find them better, and they are easier for the fish. the fish seem to like them better also.

    discus using cone

My breeding pair started off with 13 practice spawns on the cone "20 babies" lucky 13 then the last after we cleaned the tank and moved a divider in to reduce the 3ft space she spawned on the glass and left the cone. hope she will movve then when they are wrigles. at least they are on the side of the tank and close to the front of the tanks.

Hi Matt, they will quite happily spawn on anything, so that flower pot sounds ideal.

The Asian breeders use all sorts of things, like clay pots, bricks, slate tiles, even the side glass of the tank. Don't be concerned, they will use what's available.
Thirty-five years keeping and breeding discus, and I'm still learning :P
