    2 foot tank

    Hi,

just wondering if it would be better to move my breeding pair to a 2 foot tank 24x12x12. They are currently in a 3ft. I have a breeding colony of electric blues that i want to transfer into the 3ft. Would this be ok?

    Cheers

think that tank is a lil to small for discus. you really need something ~x18x18. it is much better that way. that tank is really not high enough.

Thought so.............but is it better to have them in a larger 2ft rather than a standard 3ft.

    thanks

Your standard 3 foot tank is usually 18 inches high by 14 inches deep. Discus do like to have that extra height. I have spawned fish in an 18 inch by 18 inch by 2 foot tall tank. Probably not ideal, but it can be done. A lot of breeders seem to use a standard 2ft 6 inch tank. Good size for spawning, and also a good size to grow out the fry.
Thirty-five years keeping and breeding discus, and I'm still learning :P
