    Ph

My breeding tank is so close to being finished, the only thing holding me up is PH, My Ph is sitting around 7.2, Id prefer it to be slighty Acidic the same as my community tank, Trying to keep the water a little softer is hard I was planing on maybe doing a rain water tap water mix, or just adding some Ph down, Ph down is easier.
Amonia 0 nitrate 0 nitites very slight traces.
I cant find my GH test kit...................

Try and avoid using the PH down powders imho ... I never had much stability with them. Peat moss sounds like a safer alternative ...

I have had many laying in my tank but no fry ... as I am not interested in breeding I have not really followed this up too much ... does PH influence the spawning of eggs or just the laying ? I have always been abit sceptical of the requirement for low pH as I have seen one breeder in Sydney use straight tap water.

My PH is slightly less than Sydney tap.

You could get an RO unit. My tap water comes out ph-8.6, kh-17 and gave up trying to figure out the gh it's so high. RO water comes out ph-6.2, kh-0, gh-0. I use tap to buffer it then.

I did have a problem with PH crashes a few times until I started buffering with tap water. Now with water changes stays around 6.6-6.8.
