Brillant blue male cross red rose female.....

Just another one of those genetic questions which i have no idea about.
I have a young pair just formed and was wondering about the outcome of thier young, ATM there is only 2 wrigglers but hopefully in future spawns i should get more.

Would i get a mixture of both sorts? or
    some muddy looking blue discus?

    mmm....

Gee Ben, you do know the questions to ask, don't you.

I have no idea mate. I do know that with my own rose red female, no matter who I crossed her with, there were always some with her colour and markings, and some with more blue striations. But................if that is normal, sorry, I don't know.

    Rod, where are you
Thirty-five years keeping and breeding discus, and I'm still learning :P

Well its been almost 3 months and after 5 spawns, i/we got the fry to attach to the parents.
It is only a small spawn, which i estimate to be more than 40+ fry.

So far so good, but i am still none the wiser, what will the fry look like when they get older? I know nonthing about genetics, so if anyone has any ideas i would like to hear about them!

here is a pic, they are around 5 days old.

    cheers,
    Ben

This is a guess at what they will turn out like, you will probably get about 35% turk, 25% rose red, 15% mostly turk, 15% most rose red and 10% "unknown". This is just a guess. I believe that the turk will be the dominent gene since that was the first strain developed and probably the closest to natural ones.

    Thanks Skoom.

lol, the tank size is very big just for them, but thet are in a 4 foot x 14" x 18" tank.
I am in the process of moving tanks around.

    Cheers,
    Ben
