    How many heaters

    hello just woundering If I should have to heaters in my Tank I have a 5 foot tank 300l should I be runnning Two heaters. I use a 300w heater.
    I crank it when its cold outside.
    I feel its working a little to hard.

    I run at least 2 heaters in all my tanks - as Murphy's Law says a heater will die on a cold evening when there is no hope of getting a replacement - at least with 2, if 1 dies the 2nd make have to work really hard for a while & temp may drop a bit - but at least it shouldn't get too cold & fish start freezing.....

    I also use thermometers with max / min settings so if water gets too hot or too cold it starts beeping to alert you.

    I also run two heaters one either end of my tank may be a good idea

    It can be a good idea to keep a spare heater on board just incase...

    Specially that winter is almost upon us!

    Hi all Ive got plenty of spare heaters not big enough for to run my 5 footer by themselves but are good backups.
    Dave please tell me more about these thermometers that beep at you.

    They work really well (until the fall in the tank that is - then they don't work at all :@)
