    meal worms

hi all discus fans out there!!!
CAN I GET A WOOT WOOT!!!!!

yer anyway just wondering if cut up meal worms would make nice discus food? i have a very good cheap source and this would be a good opportunity to feed the discus mealworms if they will accept them.

my main concern is that they have a hard exoskelaton?

any1 who has an oppinion on these little critters please post!

    Hi David,

I tried feeding meal worms to my discus and the buggers spit them out!
i tried all stages except for the beetles. Even the smallest of meal worms the fish would not eat them. I tried from small discus to the biggest ones but NOPE!! they would just spit them out!
I was even a bit sneaky and used the worms just after they moulted, much softer , still would not eat them! i even tried cutting them! same thing.

I even tried another source of live food, bush fly maggots.
even these soft morsels would not be eaten!

I even thought about breeding silk worms, as they are much softer but i gave up after they would not eat the above two.

But feed em black worms! thats another story!

I wouldnt feed them meal worms I dont think they could digest them properly I use to own a frog and I only fed meal worms every so often for the same reason.
