    Lighting question

    Hi,

I recently set up a 4ft planted tank(200L) with pressured co2 and I need to decide which light unit to be used. To save cost, I am thinking of using t5 unit ( 4 x 24w) which I used for 2 ft planted tank or 2 x 4ft aqua glo tubes which will replace normal florescent tubes used for keeping cichlids. The 2ft lighting unit is below: http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.co...g/prod_11.html

My question is which system is better for plants? Or is it better to use both units together? I tried both units but they create too much heat as they are installed under the hood. The plants in the setup are amazon sword, green tiger lotus, java ferns.

I'm trying to teach myself about planted tanks setup as well. Have a look here if you don't have any luck.

you want even light across the entire tank, T5's are nice but most t5 tubes are uselss you'll have to sopend money on decent plant tubes, you could always just use 2x twin t84 foot units 80w will be plenty fir 200l and t8 growlux tubes are only $20 each from a hydroponics shop.
