    Mystery Snails?

    Hi Whats the opinion on mystery snails in a discus tank? I was just told by the LFS its a big no

    if your keeping discus in soft water with a low ph that can lead to damage to the snails shell.i keep my discus in hard water with high ph so it depends on your water.

    Yes a high Ph is no good with snails. There shells become weak, very thin and transparent.
    Also if you've got a planted tank Tracey they might eat some of your plants. I can't confirm that thou.

    hey tracey i have had them with discus , no probs they dont eat the plants , just watch the ph if it gets a bit to low they do have a prob with the shell getting weak , but if you can keep the ph around 6.5 to 6.9 you want have any probs
