why my BN or Pleco always died ?
Hi,
I have a 240l discus tank. Everytime I buy a BN or pleco it always died within 5 days.
I am not sure what is happening the body is just getting lighter in color (kind of light yellowish).
Isn't it supposed to be a strong fish ?
Ammonia reading is 0
Ph is 5.8-6
Temp is 30C
Thank you.

My guess is the temperature.
Most keeper/breeder of BN maintain their water around the 25 degree mark. At 30 degree, the amount of dissolved oxygen is much lower and the newly acquired BN are not able to cope with the low oxygen water.
Maybe you can try dropping the temperature down to 27/28 for a trial - once the BN are used to that temperature, then raise it slowly (over a week) back to 30. If they start to hang around the surface of the tank more often, then they're suffering and you'll need to drop the temperature down a bit.

my guess would also be lack of O2.
in additon to what Th0mas has suggested, maybe add an extra airstone or 2 to the tank.

Could also be the PH
I keep my BN's above 7, the live and breed happily in my tanks at 7.4 and my other tank at 8 (there are no discus in there)
