What temp for community discus tank?

    hello everyone..

I am on the verge of adding discus to my community tank wich contain's 4 small blue ram's,2 peppermint bristlenose's and 9 harequin's. my water condition's are perfect but i wanted to make sure of the best water temp.
my tank set up has alway's been intended for discus and i know they like higher temp's but i hoped somebody could tell me if 28c is really the lowest you can go?

i would say you should have no worries at a temp as low as 26.

To be on the safe side however it would be best to keep it at 27-28.

    Hi ya..

thank's for the info folk's,i suppose it look's like my tank will be set at 27-28c,i was just a bit concerned about the other inhabitant's and wanted a balance that suited them all which naturally meant not going to high which i think 29c would definately be.

    Thank's,pepp76

not sure about the rams, but the bn's and harlequins would be fine @ 29c.
i have both in my community tank and it sits on 30c and with the hot days were having @ the moment the tank has gone up to 34-35c and no deaths "yet"

Judging by my lastest experience, 28 is fine, just make sure the temp is pretty stable!

My heater started playing up and i was getting ranges of 26-30, discus were ok, but the little fellas didn't like it, and was losing two a week!

lost my favourite BN, he was getting big, wasn't happy!

    Temp

Have kept discus, rams, tetras, corys, rasboras, whiptail at 29-30 and all doing well.

    You're set to go!

    Hello all..

    Thank's for the response,It look's as tho i'm all set then !
Unfortunatly the weather isn't quite as warm and over here in the highland's of scotland im afraid!'i have found that using one 300w heater in my 260l tank wasn't keeping the water temp stable and was dropping nearly 3c during the night,i have since added another 300w and have my finger's crossed i havn't overdone the wattage!
P.S The outdoor temp up here is -6c! I hope you all know how lucky you are!!

    Thanks,pepp76.
