    problem with canister

    Dear Friends,

I recently purchased a canister filter from Hong Kong called Cyber Aqua. It pumps at 1200L/h with a filter volume of about 8L. (exact model CyberAqua 1200L)

The only problem is that I goes on and off intermittently. It's like it has an in built timer or a thermostat or something... I have no knowledge at all on electronics and circuits.... Just wondering if anyone knows anything about filters that do this??? I'm just used to my AquaOne running 24/7.

I've checked the voltages and all and there shouldn't be a problem.

Any tips on how to override it?

    Thanks....

I don't know that exact model but it sounds like the impellor is jamming on some thing - if there is no external timer you can program then try VERY carefully removing the impellor and giving it a clean with a damp cloth and see if there is some grit or the like in there.

It doesn't sound like a jam because the power is cut...(no sound) and it is new so probably nothing to jam it.

I doubt it has an internal timer??? (if only i can override it...)

I'll open it up when I next clean the filter and see....

    thanks.

    Any more suggestions?

Coldnt see why a filter would be on a timer, the tank always needs filtering.

Id be taking a look at the impellar as suggested.
