I think I know the ones you’re talking about, but the ones I am thinking off have quite a large diameter hole down the centre – and the hole goes right the way through, where I think the bottom...

I agree with BigDaddyAdo, the Tetra Colour Bits is ok but it should not be a staple. I normaly buy a mix of dry stuff and mix it all together. Some tetra colour bits, some of those dried out worms,...

How many young Discus did I get? Enough that it gave me a hard time counting them all – easily over 20.
Oh?
**starts to google search that topic**
Is this what you were talking about?

A 6 inch diameter sponge, but only 4 inches in depth? Would that not be a little short? I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a slightly longer sponge with the pipe inserted most of the way...

I agree Hollowman is far more experienced with Discus than I, but he seems to have completely missed what I am trying to do and seems to be blind to all else apart from a bear bottom tank with a...

Yup, laying eggs right on the intake pipe is asking for trouble.
I aim for excessive canister filtering too.
That idea about wetting and then freezing the sponge is a great idea! I wish I had...

I tried the stocking over the filter intake during my first go at breeding discus and I found that the material decays rather rapidly. Plus I found that the fabric strangles the flow of water into...

Hum… The last time I dabbled with breeding Discus I had a planted tank and didn’t seem to have too much of a problem with shadows. Although I did have a dim light setup for the tank as a book I read...

Sometimes it just happens, I had a pair of Discus start spawning pretty much the day after I shipped them by plane when I moved from Brisbane to Sydney!! I thought they would be a bit sluggish since...

I’m considering building a new 2ft cube tank into a breeding tank. It will be a planted tank with wood, not a bear glass tank – as I find a planted tank with a stable biological system is far easier...

I have to admit, I am not a fan of the bottled stuff. I've never been keen on the bottled extracts over something that goes into my filter canister for several months at a time, over a bottle that I...

I was just estimating from memory, and I was thinking along the lines of Standard Length. Ether way I'd like them to be about another inch longer.

I thought as much, I checked with the local store I got them from about how old they might be. And the fellow thinks they would have a few more months before being breeding age - he really didn't...

Hello,
I've got two Discus that seem to have paired up, but they are a bit young. I am wondering what age or rather, size, is best to let them "have a go?"

I was up in Brisbane over X-Mass and visited a store near Garden City that had a good range. I can not remember the name of the store unfortunatly.
When I lived in Brisbane I used to visit the...

It is really that simple? Cool. I want to do up my tank to look like an Amazon river bed or flooded forest floor, haveing these leaves on the gravel would look the part - and be good for the tank...

How would you use said Indian Almond leaves? Do they need to be prepaired in some special way? And I'd like to know where to get them too if they are so good.

Hello everyone...
I thought I might sign up since I am starting to get back into keeping Discus. I've had Discus for a good couple of years now (9+), but I've not really done much with them for...

Hello,
I sware by filter peat in my canister filters, but the stuff can be hard to get in Sydney at my local stores or just expensive. I wonder if anyone knows of an alternative?
I've tried water...
