Hi Michael
I will assume when you say newly set up that the tank has been cycled etc and you don't have any ammonia/ nitrite etc.
A lot of discus are raised on beef heart and seafood mixes by the...

I sold all my discus about a month ago. I am concentrating on red devil angelfish at the moment to try and get these established in Australia.

Looks very nice. I would play will some black cardboard behind the tank and see if it makes the plants stand out even more. Goldfish may introduce gill flukes to the system, so check that they are...

Bristlenose and Peppermints are fine but only keep one or two as they produce a lot of waste.
Apple snails are not ideal. They need hard water to maintain their shells. When I tried it my discus...

Hi. Just a few comments.
You can use Seachem Stability to cycle the tank in7 days and have fish in there at the same time.
In relation to colours, my advice would be to stick to one colour, say all...

Sayid
If you get to the point where you are getting nowhere, increase the temperature to 36. Just make sure you have no plants or other fish in the tank. The other thing that is good for hex is 3...

I should say that I have never seen a discus this small with such a well defined black halo. That is why I just had to buy these fish.

I must admit that I do use hot water from the tap from time to time, but only if I do more than 50 percent. My fish don't seem to mind the cold water. I hit the tank with Prime and then just stick...

It is a Dr Teo Heckel cross. I suspect it is crossed with a 'Curipera'. It is only young and I am told it will turn red. The other one I have is more striated.

I have had better luck with Azoo anti endoparasite and kusuri than metro. i have had fish recover fully after several weeks of not eating.

Hi Dick
It sounds like your fish are looking to breed and so that is good. The challenge for you is that (as pointed out by the others) your ammonia and nitrite are likely to spike quickly until you...

Peppering is the same as stress bars, it will show up when they are not happy. They will need to establish a pecking order and just settle in, so that will take time. If you have the 4 in together...

It would be good to do both UV and Hydra, but for different reasons. UV is great for bacteria and disease control, but the Hydra will maintain better overall water quality - ammonia, nitrite and...

Just a quick update for anyone interested in these filters.
I have been using it now for around 4 weeks and the key difference is in the growth rate of the fish.
I have never had fish grow so...

Don't use trichlorfon, it will mess with your discus bad.
Prazi - I have never had a problem with tetras or other fish.
If you can get it - use AZOO freshwater anti-protozoa 3 day treatment. It is...

Some things to consider trying:

You would only need one as they work based on water volume, so you would use a Hydra stream 1, 2 or 3 depending on the size of the tank. They don't use much power, so 2 would be fine if you are...
