I have been using Kilverm instead of Big-L for a couple of years now with no ill effects.
Same same but different. Kilverm also adds a touch of blue colour to the water for a short while.

Some sucker mouth fish like to feed on discus slime coat but I don't have this problem.

One potential disaster is NEW.
Clean is good but new can lead to "shocks".
Get you tank up and running (cycled etc) and then add a few discus compatibles, catfish etc.

Just call your local Pet Barn and ask them if they stock Big L pig and poultry wormer. If it's not on the shelf they can order it.

Most of your larger stores will carry it, but how do you measure 1 gram?

I have the 3000 and it is great.
I have a filter pad under it to reduce vibrations as it is in the sump.
The variable flow control works well. Mine runs about 50% in a 2' sump for a 5x2hx1.5...

My worry is that the cost of clean water & electricity haven't stopped going up.
If you want to be serious about it, you need to be in warmer climates with plenty of rainfall.

Thanks all,
I have used the Kilverm several times now, and have no problems with it.
No obvious difference to using Big L, except in the pocket.
Old Dave Jr was able to buy Big L in Newcastle...

Most discus seem OK when delivered to the shops, & I am sure the owners are aware of the deterioration in both the fish & the profit margin.
My guess is that if they upped the temp to 28c the fish...
