Krissy DO NOT PUT CATERPILLAR KILLER IN YOUR TANK that will kill your discus or make them very sick .

Where did you get this Fred, i only have seen this type of discus in a photo once before ,i think its called half moon discus and it is very rare .you have to keep him in quarantine for 6- 8 weeks...

Sorry Brandi to hear about your discus , some time we loose fish really without knowing why ,but my guess is that your nitrate being 40 ppm stress the fish and lowers their immunity and that opens...

One other thing ,your KH and GH values are high for our water ,are you sure you are not adding any other chemicals to your water also your ph should be around 6.8 perhaps 6.9
