Ohhhhhh taksan. Where did you find that pic?
Can you imagine ten of them in the eldorado tank.
Yeah not bad mate :P :P
Are you sure thats the real deal
Wayne
hybrid for sure lol
or not
Now that is what I call a real fish.
Nothing but the real deal there, gotta love the brown base against the blues, and one thing that is only usually seen in Wild Discus is the colouration (blue spots) featuring in the 4th through 8th stress bar
Bull$hit its a wild.....captured 10/09/2006 30kms south of the main alenquer capture region.
Ok mate just checking :D
Thanks for the clarification taksan
Geez we would love to have these fish here in Australia for sale
Fingers crossed everyone
Wayne
I second that Wayne, makes you wonder why we spend so long stuffing about and chasing down the latest and greatest asian imports. thats how fish are suppose to look.
that is a awesome looking fish .would love to see it in person, infact would love to see it in my tank hehe
The reason why people hear spend their time on those Asian mutants is well known.... they are quite cheap (and twice as nasty).Quote:

Fish like the one I've picture wholesale for over $350ea and would cost in excess of $700ea in Australia.
Not many people here are prepared to spend that on the real deal but strangly enough seem quite happy paying $200 for fish that wholesale in Asia for $20.
In real terms these fish are cheaper ......your only paying 100% markup in total locally for the real fish yet your paying 1000% markup for the mutants and people think the wild fish are expensive???? its quite bizzare.
u can get cheap wild alenquer for like only $50. Curipia and Yamenda very seperated, die a lot if don't transport on river and Japanese love them so much that's why some rivers' alenquer are so expensive.
another reason why wild discus are not so popular is that all the beautiful thing is fashion. more people like cheap fashion rather than expensive classic.
I'm asking this because I genuinely don't know, but are there any issues with wild stocks being depleted or the best of the wilds being removed, lowering the overall quality of the wild stocks? Or is there a big enough wild stocking level with a small enough specialist market that it's not an issue?
That fish is stunning by the way, and I'm sorely tempted, or at least will be when I have the experience on the nasty Asian mutants. That I still love, though I take your point.
far too true taksan, still mate, beutiful photo, thanks for sharing. WOW Id trade all my fish for a pair like that.

that's hot
yeah that is a pretty awsum fish.
great looking fish,
what is wrong with asian breeders to come up with different strains? the word "mutant" is way too strong. imagine if everyone only keeping wild discus how boring is that. there is no point to have photo column here since everyone has the same wild. not every asian mutant is $200 there are cheaper one (includes 1000% mark up) that suit other people's budget and taste. not everyone can afford or willing to pay $350 for a wild. what would the world become if we only have one choice for each product and no more variety?
They are mutants and they are ALL abominationsQuote:

they are good nicholas. still can't tell about the sex yet since they have not spawned with each other nor they pair up with other discus.
I agree with taksan that they're ruining it for us here. You should have seen some of the fish I've seen in the last few days. Dyed, Mutated....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

you guys will have to agree to disagree!
I am with Taksan on this... when I view the properties on a computer with PS or Bridge installed it comes up exactly the same as the screenshot shown, HOWEVER, when I open up the image in PSP on another machine that does not have PS installed on it no creation software is displayed. Also when reverse mapping sections of the image the results are true to what an unaltered photo would show.Quote:

One thing I will say is the lighting used has been very cleverly selected.
Other than that it is one impressive fish
mcloughlin2, where did you see all these dyed, mutated discus? from your lfs? i like to know what you gentlemen mean mutated. Do you mean "deformed" discus?Quote:

do they have bars?
yes 32 bars  i heard the f15 are 64. I like the Asian strains but they could do without all the bullsh1t names they come up with.
Ummmmm a real wild was born in a river in South America !Quote:
