No problem keeping Discus at that Ph, some people breed at that level. Keeping it stable is far more important.

Totally agree. Stability is far more important than the so called "correct" pH.
what about the "slime-coat" i was told it will only develop if the pH is slightly acidic i.e.6.8 or so.....?????? Jim
I haven't found any problems breeding with water at 7.2 pH. The slime coat was unaffected, but perhaps it depends on the particular pairs. No doubt there would be an increase in slime production at a lower pH.
Thanks guys, thought a stable pH was the key, was not planning on breeding them anyways.
