Growing out Juvies

So I am thinking about getting some juvies maybe 3 or 4 to grow out in my tank.

Question is, my tank is a bare basic tank with heater/filter/light of course so no real hiding spots.

Is this a optimal growing out tank, assuming that my water/heat/food/size are good?

I really want the juvies to really grow into those big almost dinner plate sized discus.

It seems to be the common practice.

The key to getting them to look like the 'dinner plates' you're after is: Genetics, lots of clean water, a high protein and varied diet.

The reasoning for the bare bottom tank is to allow excess food to be easily removed without building up in substrate.

I would start off with good stock from a local breeder.
A bare bottom tank with a sponge filter and couple of air stones.
I normally set the temp on my grow out tanks to 31C lots of water changes with aged water to the same temp as the tank, at least 50% a day, 100% is my personal choice to get optimal growth.

I feed them with my own beefheart mix,freeze dried black worms and sera discus granules at least 6 times a day.

Discus are a schooling fish, the best thing would get get about 6 juvies, you don't need any hiding spots they will be fine.
