Laguna UV unit (2200)

Hi All,

I bought one of these units a while ago and installed it pre-filter. As you can imagine there is a fair amount of "gunk" coating the inside of the tube.

Today I decided that I would rinse my filters, clean the UV unit and re-install post-filter.

For those of you familiar with these units I am having trouble taking out the securing ring for the quartz tube so that I can clean it down.

Does anyone have a safe method of completing this task?

I have tried to lever them apart using a couple of screw-drivers to no avail. I am tempted to use more force/larger screw-drivers but am somewhat reluctant to do so in case of breakage.

Any suggestions help would be greatly appreciated.
