I bought to new baby red melons and have had them for over a week now and noticed one has different colouration on the gill and the other has a white patch. I am not sure if this is normal for Discus. Both are active and are eating.
Thanks,
Alex

Its very normal, infact the melon variety comes from the Pigeon blood strain. So white spots/stripes around the face are very common. If I was to buy one today I would pick the one with the most white markings around the face cause its just something I think looks awesome on an adult discus once fully grown.
Thanks for the info Matt!
the gill might be a sign og gill fluke , is he rubbing on things or gill clamping ?
Hi Scott,
I haven't noticed any gill clamping or rubbing on things.
