I purchased this from one of our LFS.
It is 5-6 cm head to tail and was named a Red Dragon. This is not a very common name and I cannot find much about it or what it will grow into.
I think a pigeon blood.
Any suggestions

Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete, that's a very young fish with a lot of growing to do.

You're right about the pigeon blood gene. The common name for these discus was "Pearl Pigeon" but they have since been given many new names.

Red dragon seems fairly appropriate. We need to understand that all the small fish farms, where most of our imported discus come from, give their strains a different name, so it's not unusual for two very similar looking fish to have different names.

Give that little guy lots of good food, and plenty of water changes and you will see a transformation. That blue pearling should eventually cover the entire body.

Thanks, It has settled in well in less than the week I've had it and now joins the others at the front of the tank at feeding. Readily accepts flakes and frozen blood worms. The light/bright orange is a real contrast to the red turqs and blue diamond.
