Waterlife products

Hi,
Out f curiosity, does anyone know why the UV sterilsers need to be turned off when using Waterlife medication products (Sterazin, Protozin, Myzaxin)???
The only reason I can think of is that it might destroy the active ingredients in the products - but I wouldn't have thought so - not sure?!

i think you're on the ball there! UV light will accelerate drug degradation (depending on the drug structure itself)

I think that it is the only logical explanation - mind you not all chemicals are degraded by UV light.

UV should be turned off when treating fish with drugs. I checked my UV unit instruction, it said specificly so.

I guess there is enough reaso for them to put it in the instructions.

yes, not all drugs are degraded by UV light. however when the formulation is packaged in opaque plastic or amber glass containers its a clear indication that they do not want any light exposure during shelf life.
