my blue diamond and red melon have successfully produce their little babies. what would these babies look like when they grow up?

I've never attempted that cross, so I think this may be a case of wait and see.

I have the same that have paired up - eggs every 2 weeks, but no babies as yet.

I'd love to see photos Ivo, as I wonder the same...! :)

In that cross the PB is dominant and the BD recessive.

So there will be a mix of white butterflies (max 15-20%) a large number of pearl pigeons (approx 50%) and the remainder will potentially be red melons or variations thereof.

I agree with G.

Seems like you were asking a question so I'll answer it.

In the first generation there will be maybe 1 slightly different fish. You then have to take that fish and breed it to another fish with other unque characteristics.

So to create a purple discus - You need to cross the siblings that have the desired colour together. Then raise those fry and breed them back to the parents so on til you end up with what you want. Sadly there are no discus that are purple to my knowledge. Most are shades of blue sold under the name Purple discus.
