My tank is 420 litres, what size UV Sterilizers do I need?

The 11w says for upto 400 litres, so I was thinking the 18w, but then the 36w costs not much more. Is the 36w an overkill?

i would gp with the 36 watt just on value for money
the higher the wattage the better it is going to be just as long as the flow through it is at a reasonable rate you should be fine

Hi Sandy,

IMO I would go with the highest wattage you can afford, I always use UV's at around half the rating ( 400L rated UV on a 200L tank), but that's just me. As Chris mentioned the key to getting the most from your UV is matching the flow rates correctly, too fast and it wont be working effiecently, too slow and you could damage the unit.

HTH.

Cheers,

Dee :D

Its not the size of your tank but the flowrate of your water source that determines the size of UV required.
What type of cannister filter are you plumbing the UV into?
