I was wondering what my options are for a small 2ft tank in terms of hooking up a UV sterilizer? I'm not too particularly keen on the AA Internal UV Sterilizer as i prefer requiring less maintenace (intake quickly clogs up).

Ruling the AA internal option out it pretty much leaves me with only the externals.

Is it ok to run a Pondmaster 9W on a eheim 2217, or would it be detrimental to my fish? There is a 5W version, but pricing is essentially the same.

(Any other suggestions are appreciated)

I would go with the 9w. When it comes to UV, the higher is better (not to extream of course). UV can not hurt the fis unless they go through the tube.

You want to connect the UV to the out tube of the filter, not to the in tube.
