i know the pair are good breeders because when i bought them they had 100 wriglers on there backs

better to let them eat everything and spawn again in a week or so.

better to leave them alone. its stressful for the fish if you fiddle around when they have eggs or wrigglers.

You've only had them for a few weeks, so I'd just give them a bit more time.

You may well find that the parents will eat the ten wrigglers, and start all over again. They know that they need more than ten fry to have a chance of being successful parents.

I've had good pairs that normally raise a hundred or so babies, but if they should happen to have a very small number of fry, they will eat them and lay again in a week or so.

As a lot of the eggs were infertile this time, it may be that the male was distracted, and didn't do his job properly.

Give them a bit more time. You may find they will be more successful next time.
