Well...

It seems we all know everything about the kings that everyone keeps in the aquariums, and trials and tribulations we all have, but what do you do during the week to make it all happen?

Some people run aquarium businesses, some people work in offices...

What keeps your busy during the daylight hours?

I'm interested!

I'll go first.

Since I left school in 2001, and for a few years before that, ok, well, for about the last 10years I guess.. I've been into lighting.

First at school doing musicals and all that sort of thing, and then towards the end of high school I got into doing dance parties.

From there it snowballed, when I was in year twelve I was part of the team that lit parties like Gatecrasher, The Big Day Out, and many other parties, ranging from 500-25000 people.

After I left school I worked as Lighting Director@Home Nightclub in Cockle Bay up until the begining of this year when I got back from Canada and the US.

I've been working this year at a little club on Taylor Sq. called arq, it may be a gay venue, but its got the most killer rig in town, and its a great way to learn.

I hope to one day go overseas and ge in on some big parties and what not.

Having worked with some of the biggest names in dance music, well, its a pretty good feeling inside....
Sasha and John Digweed, Armin Van Burren, DJ Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Goldie, DJ Sneak, Blank & Jones...
Last weekend I did a party at the State Sport Center in Homebush, at Olympic Park, called Transmission, 5000 people at a big trance party.

It was great, got a bit screwed out of programming time, but I did a better lightshow in 4hours at the desk, that the main programmer, who spent about 16hours at the desk...

Attached are a few pics from Saturday night...

Wow!! I love that last pic....

Well my "day" job started off as an Insurance Broker, and singer of a band at night... then I became an Insurance Underwriter and then I left Insurance completely and joined the Cast at a Theatre Restaurant in Melb. (Witches in Britches)... I worked there for 6 years, singing, dancing, acting and comedy all rolled into one.... then I left Witches and worked with a guy in a duo then I got Preggo Had a little girl and a break from the scene for 18months....

Now my day job is my little girl and my night job is my band.. Fleetwood to the Max.. a tribute to Fleetwood Mac... I am the Stevie.... our first two gigs were sell outs and we have another one coming up next week...and we have been approached to go to Dubai next year sometime for a 6 gig stint over 10 days.. that will be cool if it comes through... :D

Here are some photos of my band at work! (or play as some might say!) lol

Well guys - this is my life.

Born in Rockhampton 1971. Began breeding discus at age 14. Worked in LFS until 20 years old. Did a zoology degree majoring in aquatic microbiology. Got sick of the tropical heat and moved to Tassie - had fun. Did Postgrad diploma and honours degrees in Aquaculture, specialising in ornamental fish disease (Discus and Gouramis). Got bored and wanted to shoot things. Joined the Army in 1993 (still there now). Applied for special forces job, and did this new exciting career for 2 years. Married a fish/aquaculture specialty veterinarian (only one in QLD). Bred discus with new found funds. Transferred for military pilot training. Bred more discus. Became a military helicopter combat instructor. Bred more discus. With even better new found funds started importing wild caught discus at a rate of about 4 per month. Have a huge collection now that I have to move to Toowoomba (from Townsville). My new job will be as a flying instructor in the ADF, and as my discus breeding/wholesale business takes hold and becomes viable, I will give the Army the Ars# and continue breeding my beautiful babies - am also breeding large amounts of birds - my other joy in life.

When I left school I became an apprentice bootmaker did that for 4years.
Then I joined the railways as a guard (opening and closing the train doors and telling the driver when to go) did that for 5yrs. Then the goverment got rid of the guards and I was lucky enough to get a job as a Train driver. I've now been driving trains for 11yrs.

Never saw anybody surfing on the train but it did and still happens, had a few travelling on the back train coupler though.
Must admit most of the murals that happened 10-15yrs ago weren't bad but todays stuff is pretty average.

Heya Oscar,

yeah trainsurfing isnt really alive anymore these days, my best friend was killed train surfing in the loop :( it all kinda eased off after that. Your very right in saying that 10-15 years ago was the graff hayday ! these days its all a bit naff ... take me back to 1986-88 anyday. It's cool to hear from a 'cool' train driver ;) way back when most of them where pretty anti.

Cheers,

Dee.
