I am using a Sera Nitrate test kit at the moment is there a better one out there ?
Is there a Nitrate kit that does not use powder ?

Has anyone used the Seachem Nitrite & Nitrate MultiTest kit ?

thx

I am a big fan of the aquarium pharmaceuticals test kits.

very easy to use the nitrate kit. Only 2x agents to perform an accurate test.

JBL & Seachem IMO are by far the best Nitrate test kits.

Seachem would be the most accurate as well.

(although LaMotte is even better, but there test kits are expensive and hard to find)

The best test kit for me would be the APharmaceutical ones also... very affordable, simple too use and achieves the same objective.

Thanks for all the help guys :D
The Sera kit is a real pain because of the powder so will be looking at some of the kits you all told me about.

I have tried several brands of test kits including

Dupla (expensive)
Hagen (Some LFS sell refills)
Salifert profi test range (used a lot by reef crowd)
Aquarium Pharmacuticals (cheap & easy)
Wardley (not that common anymore)
and several others

for cost & ease of use, I love the aquarium pharmacuticals (AP) and for better accuracy I use Salifert

as an example, to measure KH he AP test is 1 drop = 1ppm KH and my tapwater changes colour with one drop, so I use the Salifert test which has 0.2ppm per drop (tapwater at my place is 0.6ppm).

I find the hagen test kits annoying as the test tube lids leak when you shake them. I also have no confidence in the accuracy as I have a had a couple of "dud" test kits

Just recently I tried "testing the accuracy" of my Nitrate test test kits by making 2 different solutions of KNO3 in distilled water (5ppm and 20ppm). The results of the 3 test kits I had on hand where:

"known" 5ppm solution
Hagen, showed no colour at all = 0ppm!
AP, 10pm was the closest shade
Salifert, 5ppm was the closest shade

"known" 20ppm solution
Hagen, 10ppm colosest shade
AP, was really a shade between 20ppm and 40ppm (app 30ppm)
Salifert, 25ppm closest shade

The salifert test uses powder though
