I've been keeping a planted tank for just over a year now and through that time i'm developed my own dosage program of Seachem Trace products and powdered KNO3 & K2SO4. but i've very intriqued with the Amano liquid ferts.
i'd just like to know from People who have used it sucessfully,
what their dosage routine is and which products they need.

I dont think i have a great substrate in my tank ATM, its a combination of peat, peat moss and Aquaclay.

Lights are 3 x 55w PCs with Noon burst of 5 hrs with 2 x 150w MH

DIY fire extinguisher Co2 with no selenoid controlled dosage.

Tank size 6x2x2

Thanks in advance
Regards,
Eric

Just off topic - would you be able to give any details of your fire extinguisher setup ? I would be very interested the details as it was something I was thinking about investigating.

Its actually quite simple,
i brought myself a CO2 fire extingusher
took the blast bell off
screwed on my Bioplast regulator
ran a air hose through 2 non return valves in to a reactor which came with the bioplast kit
connected it to the bioplast diffusor that also came in the kit
and thats it

the kit had a bubble counter too so thats how i know how much is going in
the only thing about it is that theres no Ph control or electronic shut off at night
so only a constant but stable small dose can be done
i find that as long as theres enough Kh in the water, my fish are fine..
but it is a fine line i'm treading on, especially with water changes

the only thing to look out for when purchasing the extingusher is the size of the flange
just make sure its the same size as your regulator

Sounds like a good idea for a CO2 cylinder. Do you know if most places will refill it for you?

it works kinda like your LPg bottles,
some places will refill it.
some others will only swap it for a filled one.

Most large fire companies have their own recharge / pressure test station and CO2 tank for refilling the cylinders. I work for Wormald and we certainly refill CO2's.
