Okay, so I am setting up my 55 gal. 4ft tank for discus. So far, I have drilled for the drain and return for my sump/freshwater fuge. I haven't put any baffles in the sump yet... that'll be next weekend... but I did get it plumbed up, except for a little bit in the return, and also the spraybar. But, here's what it looks like so far with my driftwood in there, waiting on water, baffles, and media! Tell me what you think!
Here is a whole tank shot

Both tanks as they stand right now

And here is the pool filter sand substrate. Just the right color I think. Not too bright, but not too dark either! Exactly what I was wanting to get!!

Indeed thats a big sump.

Is that the same size as the tank ? Looks like it.

What sort of light do you have there ?

Good luck.

I'm guessing his going to run other tanks off that sump as well.

Yea, that is a large sump! It's a 40 gal tank, which is 4ft long. The pump that I am using is a 500 gallon per hour pump, which equates to about 1900 l/h. I am going to be using a pretty long spray bar! I like having the large sump, b/c it adds more water to my system in total!! I'll have around 85 gallons of water in my system! Mulisha, that sump is running this tank alone! I will eventually be trying to breed them, and want to have the best water quality possible, so the more I have the more i can buffer the changes!! Thanks for the kind words everyone! Keep'em coming!
Cheers!

Oh, forgot... the light that is over top is just 2 55W PC's. I'm going to be switching them out soon, b/c the bulbs need replacing. Any suggestions on the kelvin? Should I get some actinic/daylight lamps, or just the straight daylight?

Alright!! I got it all plumbed up, filled it up, and everything works as planned!! I did have to remove the added piece of PVC from the drain, and just let the elbow do the work. Keeps it exactly where it should, and is actually pretty quiet! I still need to get some Teflon tape for the threads, but other than that... IT WORKS PERFECT!!! I'm getting excited, and I can't wait to get discus!!
