I would hesitate a guess that coz three of them have bristles on their faces, that its an indicator theyre male

hi,

infact all 4 of them have bristle around the lip but after i talked to a few bn breeder, i was told even the female orangespot have bristle ard the lip, but the male will have bristle going all the way up to the head. But they are a bit too young to sex this way still.

Cheers

depends subordinate males will develope there bristles much later than the dominant male in the tank
females will only have two on eaither side of the face
and maybe one in the middle like a peppermint

Reply Re: orange spot bn Yea ,,,orange spot females get a fringe of tiny whiskers, but males do not beard up till they are a year or more old in my experience. They can be sexed though by comparing the pectoral fins. Males have longer, more robust pectoral spines.

Axxx

The above is one of the reply from a bn and pleco breeder.

But anyway, i am very new to bn breeding
