Im pretty sure you know by now that the site sponsers are your best bet ...

Not many people would let there proven breeding pair of discus go for $200-$300 either so i would be looking at saving up a bit longer if i was you ...

Good quality pairs go for $450 plus usually ... :P

i would concur with mcloughlin2, for an average quality pair especially with fry to prove you would be looking at over $300.save up abit more and get a great quality pair for another $200 on top and you will make it back from one spawn. it's just that initial investment, it doesnt cost more to maintain a quality pair either :).

do it right the first time, ive seen numerous people wanting cheap fish, later coming back for the good stuff. In the end it would've cost them less just getting the nice fish in the first place.

just an opinion,

$200- $300 = pair that have laid eggs togeather.....

i have seen good proven pairs of blue diamonds (while a very nice strain, quite common in the hobby at the moment) go for around $750-$800.
