I'd be there .....I would if I could but I cant so I wont ...bugga ! :(

Just out of curiosity............I've seen pieces of the same wood for aquariums here in Adelaide, for a big price too I might add, but can you tell me exactly what species of tree they come from, it is distinctive ?

Malaysian driftwood is the name, not sure what species of tree it is :?: Great wood for aquariums, I use it in all my tanks.

Great prices on those pieces, wish you guys where in Melb !

Cheers,

Dee.

Dee, I dont think this stuff is the Malaysian variety (which is usually known as Mopani wood).

I believe this is locally sourced, which would mean it can only really be mangrove root (most of the local woods are not suitable due to the oils & resins they contain such as gum trees etc)

I have several large pieces, 1 of which is Mopani and it has a slightly different look.

Dee.

Ahhhhhhhhh Wabecca . Fantastic looking pieces of driftwood. And that gravel sounds awsome. Does if affect the pH and what are the chances of shipping some to Melbourne.

For those that turned up today, thank you... it is always great to put a face to a name (or username).

Looks like one lucky camper took most of the nice wood pieces... (not me btw)

I look forward to coming over to see the ADA stuff in full flight.

Hey Rohan - nice sausages! lol!

Also what in the *H* happened to the blue discus that was in the big tank with the geophus SP? (sorry no idea on other cichlid genus- only discus).

Looks like you performed surgery on it???

It had a bad case of fin rot 2 years ago. As per what many breeders do, I trimmed the finnage back, hoping it would remove the dead area and grow back but it hasnt... He has been like that ever since.

The other tankmates were my colony of Geophagus altifrons

Well it doesn't seem to bother him too much - he looked pretty well adapted...
