haven't heard of anyone in Oz who regularly uses them, they are one of the most popular filters in Asia. i use one , 600 l/hr which i feel outperforms my 1000 canister, its way easier to clean, keeps water crystal clear, then why doesn't anyone here in Oz use them ? is there something about them i'm not aware of ??? :?

What do you mean by top filter? Like the ones on those Aquaone long tanks or some other kind?

rob her means the ones that are like black boxes filled with media that sit ontop of the tank and are fed by a powerhead in the tank. the water runs from the top box into the ones bellow then back into the tank.

samir i guess people really like the idea of a sponge or canister filter or a sump.

im not sure

cheers

arent they the same thing? cept the top filters run on gravity and the canisters on pumps? I use top filters, will convert one tank to use canister though... *fingers crossed that my parents let me have a corner in the garage*

Its beyond my comprehension why more people here don't use them. They are more efficent then sponges and work very well indeed.

yer, I personally like them most and that is why I get them from oversea.

I use to run 2 18000-2000L/hr top filter in my 6x2x28" tank and the water is clear as.

for those who don't know how they look like:-

AOA have the range of Mozoo top filters available

Mozoo top filter are a bit different, it has the "above water/out of water" type powerhead, basically it "suck" the water up to the filter box.

whereas the powerhead type as shon in the picture have 2 outlet fitting, one to circulate the water and one pump water to the filter box.

Cheers

its better to get the one with the submerged powerhead, powerhead on top = noise.

The mozoo powerhead is submerged and also has two outlets

I've got a couple and I reckon that for the money they are the best value filtration available. I recommend them.

thanks kswong34,
i didnt really know what was going on.
so do you think i should try 2 of these out on my 6ft tank that im setting up???
would 2 of the "Mozoo Top Filter ( 1000lph )" be enough filtration?
and how did you fill you box, media wise?
thanks wow, thats a lot of Q's man.

I have top filters on my smaller tanks, and they cant be beaten for performance and ease of use. (although an AquaClear 500/110 does come close)

HI Rory,

IMO, 2 1000L/hr seem to be not adequate for a 6x2x2 but again is depends on what you have in the tank.

I only use filter wool with them but is better not to clean both filter at the same time.

Cheers
