nope sorry , i have a pair i ordered in quarantine, but there are so many types different marlboro reds that its confusing so i just wanted to have a look at yours to compare colour. there's no guarantee that getting a male will give you a pair.

I thought that was a red melon. My red malboro is a bright red/orange all over with white markings over the face, dorsal and anal fin regions :?:

Ziptar, that discus is a red melon not a malboro red...

Malboro's do not have a white face - and usually they are a more orange colour.... :wink:

yeah im not sure, i think it was advertised as malboro red.... but i cant even be sure if what i bought because my other fish which i believed to be a leopard skin, might not be one, because another guy who had al ook at my fish told me that theres a faint bar down the side which means it was crossbred with some kinda turk or something.... but yeah your fish looks heaps nice!

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I am also a newbie and am just discovering how complex and confusing the naming system can be. One name can often have different looking discus associated with it!
But that is where a site like this is v. helpful. You just have to hang in there and somewhere along the line it will all fall into place and make sense-hopefully! :wink: .

Elvip - your discus is the "traditional marlboro red". It is pigeon based and sometimes crossed with goldens to get a clean looking golden-red uniform colour with pattern through the fins.

Zipstar - your discus is the "white faced marlboro or red melon marlboro). These are usually made by crossing a pigeon to a rose red to attain uniform deep red colours with a white face - very striking.

mate doesnt matter what they are some people see fish as either what they are eg: melon diamond marlboro
or as $$$$$$
sometimes you just need to kick back and enjoy what you have

yeah thanx G! did some more reading and its like a red melon... very striking in deed, its the first thing people point out!
