Depends on the strain mate,

What one did you have in mind? SS take longer then most other discus to colour up..

But most show near full colour at about 10-12 months old.... :D

ok. well as you know i had bought 4.
well i got my other six yesterday.and they are showing all there colors and happy no stress.:)
but i picked out some blue , green , and red ones.
To make them overall different then the ones i have. so there is a varity
but i cant really tell which is which. i can tell them apart. and i think i guess which is which. but i cant tell.
they are about 2.5-3 inches. and a few months old.
so i shouldnt worry about it for a least a few more months?

Just give them a couple of months and you will see how they colour up.... it is really interesting to watch them grow and wonder how they are going to turn out in the end...:-)

This is probably obvious, but food is really important.
I have kept my juveniles on a mixture of liver, and some vegetables and event though they've grown, after three months, which means they were about six months old, still almost no colour. A month ago, I made another mixture, this one with liver, shrimp, fish, vitamins, fruit, vegetables, and one month later, they have developed more colour than the other three months put together.
Of course it could also be coincidence, and they weren't just colouring, due to being juveniles
