Tank is runnig now for 3 months and it is time to get planted...every time a little piece till I am satisfied

Bottom is fine sand (0.2 / 0.3 mm)
Under the sand I use pieces of peat and riverclay

I heard many good stories about clay for plants, so maybe I will empty the community tank to start to build a bottom with clay, peat then a layer of aquariumdirth and then a layer of sand...

I do use Co2 asswell (with a ph controller)

Over 2 days I am gonna pick 9 new plants (different species) there is also included a little machine that gives every day a shot of vitamines/minerals for plants

The tank contain:

12 discus
10 Corydoras
2 freshwaterstingray's
L18 (golden nugget)
Panaque (can;t find the number, it's not a grey or brown one...this one is very dark green....really a beauty)

Friday will be added 50 kardinal-tetra's

Light is 3x 58 watt, will be extended soon with a 4th 58 watt

1x aquaplant (tetra)
1x tricolor (don't know the brand)
1x tropical sun (tetra)

Hi Mcloughlin

The tank is 160x72x62 (water)...
that was a little dissapointment when I bought it (second hand) in the advertisement was written 165x80x80 (water) then when I checked it was smaller...price was smaller also, so I could live with it ;-)

When I can find the time I will post some more pics incl some close ups from the fishies ;-)

Hi Jeroen
Your discus are absolutely gorgeous.
I have been sitting here for the last 10 minutes drooling.
Did your tank come with the background already installed or did you have that done?

Now, that's a big tank...
I don't know what type of plants you're introducing, but the lighting may not be enough for the more demanding, like red leaved one. e.g. Myriophyllum tuberculatum (Red) or glosso.
Love the Discus!

+ Thanks LR, Ben, Samir

+ Heidi Want a bucket or a towel ;-)

+ rsoares....Don't know exactly the names of all plants...there is pretty much light in the tank, I asume it's enough, and soon there is installed a 4th light of 58watts
There is a crypto, Microsorium pteropus, Red Lotus, Crinum thaianum....the left (front and back) I am not sure about

Furthers I have ordered

1 x Anubias afzeli
1 x Echinodorus magdalenensis
1 x Cryptocoryne nevilii
1 x Echinodorus argentinensus
1 x Anubias heterophylla
1 x Echinodorus latifolius
1 x Alternanthera sessilis
1 x Pogostemon Helferi
1 x Echinodorus tenellus

Those plants you can find here: http://www.aquaplantsonline.nl

Hi Nicholas,

Good suggestion, but I had those allready before, wanted something else for a change...
Really I was looking for something else that is not seen in every other tank you look....but I couldn'd find anything that match good with discus and the temperature :(

Heidi, sorry just seen the question now about background.
The background was there allready, it is a kind of juwel background, but it is not a juwel...juwel has really dark grey (allmost black) this background is more brown colored....
I am doing a water change, will try to shoot a picture, there the back ground is seen much better
