Ohh that's lovely. I've seen one with a lot more pink on it than that.

Does that make it more special LOL

Not sure I think it depends on what part of North Eastern Queensland they are from....or maybe it's an Asian fish ?

Love the first one. The light coming through the leaves of the plants is very interesting. Good balance and interesting subject matter.

Second pic. Great use of light through the leaves, once again, but your central figure, the blue diamond is out of focus. I know taking pics of fish isn't easy, cos they don't stay still LOL but try to get the eye in focus and nice and sharp. That will give you a more interesting picture.

Some happy snaps of my baby. I think he has a vision problem.. When its feeding time in the morning and I feed colour bits, he can't seem to judge the distance to the food, and takes 3 or 4 lunging attempts at the food to get into into hisgob.

otherwise, he is beautiful, and theother discus are jealosus...

Not my photo, but i'm wondering what kind of "fish" this is, and if anyone of you know if it's availiable at all.

Are you being sarcastic mate?

Its a mexican walking fish (axolotl) and you can buy them from almost every fishshop... :P

Hedphelym
Thu Jun 01, 2006, 10:09 PM
no, i'm not being sarcastic at all :)
i just havent seen one before in any shop..
and now that i've seen it i've got to get one when i get my new tank this summer..
it's just the coolest this i've ever seen for an aquarium.

Took me a few moments to work that one out too LOL.

I think the big fat grub in it's mouth confused me a bit

Very cool fish (is it still classed as a fish, or amphibian? ) although as you can see, they have a very big mouth, so I think a tank on their own would be called for.

They also come in several colours. The albino ones are pretty awsome too. :P

Hedphelym
Fri Jun 02, 2006, 07:58 AM
yeah, i saw some pics of the albino one, but i like them both, so any of them would be nice.
going to the fish shop today and ask for one, and if they can get a hold of one.

they can live upto 15 years..
and after what i have read; they are easy to have in a tank.

only just saw this thread :) and noticed about the Axolotls, i kept em for a while and there not as easy to keep as most people/petshops say.
temps being the main thing that people dont get right, then have problems.
the main being fungal problem cause of temps being too high.
IE : anything over 24c is not good for axies preferably 20c is good and can keep them as low as 5c IE : putting them in the fridge up to 30 days to slow there metabolism and quicken the healing process if they get sick :)
here's a pic of 3 of the 4 that i had :)

Not even close to a fish shot but this was one of the scariest moments in my life. My girlfriend took this photo at Taronga zoo. The public viewing area is set lower than the lions so they don't feel dominated. I nealt down and had my face about 10cm from the glass and this shot was taken about 1 second before it lunged head first into the glass and I lunged 60m in the opposite direction like a girl. You can even see his breath on the glass

Just a few more pics I've taken. I think a few of the other photographers should chuck a few of their own non-fish pics up here (Rat, Taksan) 8-)

And anyone else with a brand new SLR hint hint Nathan
