I have read that peat should not be used in a filter with activated carbon because the carbon will nullify some of the peat's properties. Does this mean that the carbon will also lessen the peat's ability to reduce pH and soften water?
Thanks in advance,
Russell.

Exactly right Russell. One cancels the other out.

Out with the carbon then...

Thanks for your reply Merrilyn. I knew that carbon would affect some of the peat's functions just wasnt sure if it would cancel it out entirely.

Thanks again,
Russell.
