I am about to try the Super Soft Krill & Spirulina in the large size for my Discus, large Silver Sharks and the fussiest fish on the planet, Graeme the Giant Gourami (he has about $500 worth of food sitting in the cupboard cause he gets sick of eating them after a week or so)

From everything I have read on foreign forums, this food is meant to be top notch, and lives up to its name as a substitute for frozen or fresh foods.

Will update on my findings.

Ive been using the HBH super soft Krill and Spirulina for about 4 or 5 months now.
This food is taken readily by all my fish.

My royal whiptail just loves that spirulina.
Hope everyone else gets good results

WOW!!!!!

Those HBH food prices are fantastic.

I was only looking at another online store a week or so ago who was having a special and there prices are $20-$30 more each.

Am looking forward to hearing more about this soft food.

FYI,

Over the next few weeks the entire Nutrafin Max - Premium fish food range will be added to the product list.

These will only be available in the larger sized packaging at first.

also, Red Sea marine foods will be listed at the same time

Can the HBH Super Soft Krill be crumbled to feed smaller fish. What's the best size for discus, the small or the large pellets?

I will send you some of mine when I receive it tomorrow.

Maybe Graeme can answer your question a little better since he has been using it for a while.

I should stress when I say Graeme, I mean the person with the username Grae, not Graeme my crazy Gourami

LOL I think your crazy gourami's comments would be much more amusing :P

Well given his latest tricks, it would involve a headbutt to the glass, then to curl his body and flick his rear end so over 10 litres of water gets splashed out of the tank all over some poor unsuspecting person.

Or, he could just do his usual and head butt the lids sending them onto the floor if he is still hungry.

I agree that Graeme the gourami would be more fun..

I have only used these foods with baby bristlenoses, who eat anything, and krib fry.I did crumble it which is easy to do as is soft and kind of moist. The kribs seem to love it.

Hope that helps

Several people have asked about filter matting, commonly known as Biomat (or Karmaharda Matting)

We have had it listed online for the past couple of months, although only in bulk sheets.

Biomat Filter Matting Coarse (2m x 1m x 25mm) (http://www.aquariumproductswholesale.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=1574)

This is the same stuff that is used in commercial aquaculture and in various public aquariums around Australia.

For those that ordered the SuperSoft HBH foods, you should have already received them, or they will arrive tomorrow.

I received my SuperSoft Krill & Spirulina yesterday, all I can say is WOW, there is a lot of food in those foil bags.

All the fish are loving it so far, although one big stupid fsh ignored it until he realised he wasnt going to get Banana's, Berries or Lettuce leaves last night

dont feed too much varieties proteus, you might pollute your water very fast unless you perform water change quite often.

Proteus
Sun May 14, 2006, 11:29 PM
Lets just say with the amount of water changes that tank gets, plus the filtration system on it water pollution is almost an impossibility.

(Daily 5-15% water change depending on what food given, using 48-72hr aged water. Filtration = approx 9,000lph for a 400L tank (AquaOne CF2400 filled with high porosity bio media + 3ft high capacity sump with 6500lph pump)).

(This fish is spoilt)

yeah depends what fish you keep in the tank the flow rate might be abit strong.

Proteus
Sun May 14, 2006, 11:55 PM
With a large Giant Gourami in there, and a large Gibbiceps the waer flow doesnt bother them (plus it is aimed several different directions to ensure there isnt too much movement (both fish are over 1ft in length))

there is only one gourami and a gibbicep in the 400litre tank? oh ok i guess theres alot of open space for the fish to swim in then.

Due to popular demand and several requests we now have in stock the smaller sized Super Soft & Moist products (184gm & 212gm) in both the Krill and Spirulina.

Remember if we dont have a product listed in a size that you want, send us an email and we should be able to get it for you.

Thank you

FYI, after almost 2 months of waiting we finally have Hikari Food Sticks back in stock.

At this stage we only have the 250gm and 1kg sizes on hand, and should have the smaller size available later in the week.

Just a reminder as well that the May specials finish in approx 48hrs time, items such as the Heating Cables may not be seen at these prices again for some time.
