View Full Version : so how do we breed light color discus?

i think i have a third pair forming: white and yelow, both light color, and i kept reading and saw that babies dont seem to attach to light color parent, so who do they attach to?

Now this is a problem alot of people face when breeding albino's and yellow discus etc...

Sometimes they will attach to the parents or in some cases you will need to transfer the babies to a tank with another pair of discus with similar aged babies...

Its best if you let the pair at least attempt to get the fry to attach to them for a few times first before attempting this tho... :P

When the fry start free swimming, lower the level of the water, and keep the tank in relative darkness for the first week. That way, the parents appear as the darkest objects in the tank, and the fry are programmed to head for the darkest object. Once the fry are firmly attached to the parents, you can turn the tank lights back on.
